P. Scott Phillips

Practice Summary

Scott represents employers and governmental entities in a variety of matters, including employment related litigation arising under Title VII, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Equal Pay Act and claims arising under 42 U.S.C.A. Section 1983. Scott acts as counsel for a local hospital which is one of the largest employers in the Mississippi Delta.  In his representation, he routinely handles a variety of issues, including employment issues, real estate matters and physician-related issues arising under Stark and Anti-Kickback laws.  He also has experience representing financial institutions in a variety of matters ranging from complex, multi-party, consumer fraud litigation to collection cases. Scott handles all types of civil litigation, including representing hospitals, nursing homes, physicians, nurses and dentists in professional negligence cases.  He also handles cases involving motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, eminent domain, admiralty and commercial disputes. Scott represents clients in state courts throughout the state of Mississippi, as well as in the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Mississippi. He is also licensed to appear before the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.
