Practice Summary
Britt concentrates his practice in civil litigation, including personal injury, products liability, premises liability, employment law and motor vehicle accidents.  He is also the firm’s lead counsel for workers’ compensation matters and regularly represents clients before the Mississippi Workers’ Compensation Commission.  Britt is admitted to practice law in both Mississippi and Arkansas and has tried dozens of jury trials in the state and federal courts of both jurisdictions.  He also has conducted numerous Hearings on the Merits before the Administrative Judges of the Mississippi Workers’ Compensation Commission.
 
He is active in various civic and community organizations including the United Way (President 2004), Kiwanis Club (President 2000), American Heart Association Heart Walk (Chairman 2003) and Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce (President 2006-2007).  Britt currently serves as the Vice-President of the Delta Sportsplex Foundation, Inc., the School Advisory Council for St. Joseph Catholic School and Chairman of the Capital Campaign for St. Joseph School.

  • Haggard v. Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., 757 So.3d 1120 (Miss. Ct. App. 2011). Summary judgment for premises owner for alleged slip and fall incident.
  • Robinson v. Assoc. Wholesale Grocers, MWCC No. 09-06756-K-3834.  (Commission Order dated November 23, 2011).  Dismissal of workers’ compensation claim against warehouse Employer.
  • Cremeen v. Superior Boat Works, Inc., 303 Fed. Appx 183 (5th Cir. 2008). Defense of towboat and barge shipyard with order denying all benefits for claim under LHWCA.
  • Jones v. McRae’s, Inc., MWCC No.: 03-2909H-6533 (Commission Order dated April 2, 2008).  Order reversing ALJ’s grant of workers’ compensation benefits for alleged disability caused by heart attack against retailer.
  • T & S Express, Inc. v. Liberty Mutual Ins. Co., 847 So.2d 270 (Miss. 2003). Represented insurer with judgment granting reimbursement of defense costs and indemnity cause by wrongful refusal to defend.
  • Liberty Mutual Ins. Co. v. Canal Ins. Co., 177 F.3d 326 (5th Cir. 1999). Obtained summary judgment for insurer with recovery of attorney’s fees for beach of duty to defend.
  • Southern Leisure Homes, Inc. v. Hardin, 742 So.2d 1088 (Miss. 1999).  Represented local retailer and obtained order reversing erroneous decree of Chancellor via interlocutory appeal.
  • Lovett v DRMC, So.3d, WL 401762 (Miss. 2015) Affirming denial of permanent disability benefits in workers compensation claim for low back injury.
